Inspire Primary English offers consultancy, training and support for all aspects of English teaching, learning, assessment and leadership. IPE is run by Laura Dobson, an experienced and enthusiastic teaching and learning adviser. Laura will work in collaboration with schools to provide bespoke training and consultancy tailored to the needs discussed. Feel free to visit the What We Can Offer page to see examples of support provided in the past. Visit the Resources section to find free materials you can use in school.
Laura has a wealth of experience to share with schools. Prior to starting Inspire Primary English, Laura worked for Babcock 4S as a teaching and learning adviser. During her role she worked with hundreds of schools both within Surrey and beyond, supporting teachers and leaders with school improvement, CPD, assessment, moderation, leadership and curriculum development. Laura’s training and consultancy always receives excellent feedback and schools enjoy her engaging and inspiring manner. As part of her role at Babcock 4S, Laura was a lead moderator for statutory assessment at the end of key stage 1 and key stage 2 and continues to lead visits for statutory assessment, quality assurance and assessment monitoring on behalf of Surrey County Council. Alongside running IPE, Laura teaches one day a week at a school in Hampshire, writes articles for Teach Primary and is a school governor at a local infant school.
Prior to working for Babcock 4S, Laura worked at primary schools in Hampshire and Surrey, fulfilling many roles including English lead, senior leadership team member, assessment lead, key stage lead and, most importantly, class teacher.
Laura has an honours degree in English Literature from the University of Sussex; a Primary PGCE and a Masters in Education both from the University of Reading.
In her spare time, Laura is an active member of a writing club and a book club. She also has two young children which keep her on her toes!
Laura started Inspire Primary English because she is passionate about developing children’s reading and writing skills and thoroughly enjoys working with teachers and leaders to ensure the best outcomes for all children. She believes that all English lessons should develop children as lifelong writers and readers and centres her training and consultancy around this. She ensures that all her work with schools is bespoke to their needs and children.
Inspire Primary English offers training and consultancy for all areas of English, curriculum design and middle leadership. The support and training can be tailored to schools' needs and budget requirements and can be for teachers, teaching assistants or other stakeholders.
